What Time is it Across the Milky Way?

(This page requires a VBScript supportable browser.)

Time passes differently depending on how you move and what gravitational field you are in. The stronger the slower, the weaker the quicker.

Pluto's gravity is 6% that of Earth's. If you were on Pluto, your watch would be going 16.665 times as faster than on Earth.

The Sun's gravity is 2,800% that of Earth's. If you were on the sun, your watch would be going 28 times as slower than on Earth.

If you were traveling at close to the speed of light, your watch will be slowing down. If you were traveling at the speed of light, your watch would stop.

This effect has been tested using two highly precise atomic clocks. Scientists have put one on the ground and another in a rocket. The rocket was flying into space. The two of them were compared using radio signals. Once the rocket reached space, the scientists noticed the clock on the rocket was speeding up.
